Original Illustrations by Picture Book Authors <The Young Ones and the Sea>

<The Young Ones and the Sea> brings together 22 picture book artists,
each expressing the sea and the heart of a child in their own visual language.
Co-curated by the Busan International Children’s Book Fair and Illustgallery Bi-eup,
the exhibition features a selection of original works carefully chosen with great care.

A good picture book always reflects the world and nature that surround the artist.
In this way, picture books can be seen as small mirrors holding the stories of the society in which the artist lives.

In <The Young Ones and the Sea>, the artists create a world shaped by imagination—
filled with childhood memories, moments of adventure, and quiet journeys of the heart.
As visitors step into these illustrated worlds,
they are invited not only to look at someone else’s story, but to discover a story of their own.

Just as Korea’s seas—with their thousands of islands, winding coastlines, and the harmony of mountains and fields—
form a rich and varied landscape, the 22 artists’ interpretations of “The Young Ones and the Sea” come together to create a sea where imagination and reality flow together.

We warmly invite you to enter this painted sea.
